Teriyaki Meatballs

Ingredients 

Meatballs

  • 2 lbs Ground Turkey
  • 1/2 cup Bread Crumbs
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 Green Onions Thinly Sliced
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced
  • 1 Tbsp Ginger
  • 1 Tsp Soy Sauce Low-Sodium
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper

Sauce

  • 1/4 cup Soy Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Cornstarch
  • 2 Tbsp Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Ginger
  • 1/4 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 3 Tbsp Honey
  • 1/3 cup Water
  • Sesame Seeds Optional; to garnish
  • Green Onions Optional; to garnish, chopped

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400° F. In a large bowl, combine ground meat, bread crumbs, eggs, green onions, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, and pepper. Using a spoon or clean hands, stir until well combined.
  • Roll the mixture into 1 1/4- to 1 1/2-inch meatballs. Place meatballs onto baking sheet sprayed with non-stick spray and bake until golden brown and cooked through, about 20-25 minutes.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and 1/4 cup water; set aside.
  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, add soy sauce, brown sugar, ginger, garlic powder, honey, and ⅓ cup water; bring to a simmer. Add cornstarch into mixture and stir until thickened enough to coat the back of a spoon, about 2 minutes.
  • Toss meatballs immediately with teriyaki sauce, garnished with green onion and sesame seeds, if desired.
